History
Our top priority for the last 14 years has been to provide our countrywide client base with outstanding customer service as well as an efficient mail-order service, while continually adding to our vast quilting collection to satisfy the tastes of various customers.
Our quilting doors have been open since 1996, where we traded from a rather small shop in Market Square, George. Since that time, we relocated to 40 Victoria Street in the year 2000, which boasted much larger premises. In the year 2018, we moved to our lovely new space situated in Shop nr. 4 of Wellington Square on the corner of Wellington and Stockenstrom street, where we currently accommodate our classes and all the extra yards and yards of beautiful quilting fabrics.
We are proud to have made special “quilting” friends and customers from all over Cape Town and also in far away places like Kenya, Scotland, Saudi Arabia, Iceland and New Zealand. Our extraordinary shop attracts quilters from far and wide, while we continue to make countrywide trips with our VW Caddy mobile shop as requested.
Quiltalk is truly a treasure trove as so many customers would say, keeping in mind also, the rather bored but incredibly patient “quilting husbands” who are served with a nice, warm cup of tea. So many beautiful fabrics, but so little quilting time!
Quiltalk changed hands in the year 2008, passing over to the new owners Mr and Mrs Piet and Cecile Lombaard. Mrs Cecile Lombaard successfully completed the Quilt Teachers Certification Course in 2017, as presented by South African Quilters Guild, and is available to offer classes. We also have a wonderful outlet in Klerksdorp, which naturally services upcountry Guilds and customers, they are, however, always willing and ready to visit and assist new quilters as well. A personal visit will be worthwhile.
